role you'll contribute: The Pharmacy Purchasing Technician performs
a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in
preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive
consistent care. Duties include transmitting multiple drug orders,
reconciling invoices, and receiving. In addition, this position is
responsible for maintaining inventory system accuracy, data
integrity, local level audit controls and inventory levels to
prevent product and/or supply out-of-stocks. Coordinates
pharmaceutical product recalls, all reverse logistics activities
and annual inventory processes. - Participates in pharmaceutical
sales representative activities within the facility and prepares
periodic purchasing reports as directed by department management.
Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and
does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a
registered Pharmacist. The value you'll bring to the team:

- Performs departmental projects as assigned, accurately and
completely with quality and patient safety in mind at all
times.
- Prepares and transmits all medication and pharmaceutical supply
purchase orders, analyzes price quotes when appropriate and
expedites deliveries as necessary.
- Assists in development and oversight of inventory and quality
control procedures; resolves problems and answers questions in a
timely manner to ensure accurate counts, high quality inventory and
correct pricing in system for perpetual and virtual
inventories.
- Analyzes the automation inventory system, ensuring proper
nomenclature is loaded, appropriate shelving location is assigned,
and proper shipping requirements are loaded as necessary;
communicates impacting change to team in a timely manner.
- Works with automation technicians and pharmacists on any
changes in manufacturer according to standard processes to minimize
extra inventory left in stock, accessing Pharmacy Benefit Manager
(PBM) database to enter prior authorizations as necessary.
- Maintains files and records of current and potential suppliers,
materials, prices, delivery dates and inventory as assigned.
- Communicates with manager and staff when shortages might impact
procurement of certain medications and potentially impact patient
care. Communicates effectively with Pharmacy Benefit Manager (PBM)
when new products become available to fulfill procurement in a
timely manner and communicates progress/status as necessary.
- Helps coordinate pharmaceutical recall processes and
communicates relevant information with appropriate manager(s).
- Coordinates all reverse logistics activities. - Maintains
accurate records of all returns as well as the credentials of
vendors used for this process.
- Adjudicates new and refill prescriptions and print processes as
assigned to assist in completion of stated goals.
- Perform scheduled audits using the pharmacy wholesaler purchase
orders to ensure proper contracts are being utilized.
- Supply wholesalers with the necessary usage to guarantee the
pharmacy needs are met.
- Schedule standing meetings with sales representatives to
discuss recent activities and upcoming plans.
- Document trends using computer software to identify issues with
sales representatives, wholesalers, and distribution centers.
QualificationsThe expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 5 years of retail or mail-order pharmacy setting.
- Buyer or purchasing experience in a pharmacy or medical related
field.
- A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration,
RPT; or to be obtained within first year of employment as a
technician. Must complete state required continuing education
requirement for registration
- National Pharmacy Technician Certification, CPhT; complete
national required continuing education requirement for
