Job Description We are seeking a well-rounded, organized individual to complement our current R&D department. This in house full-time position will provide support for current projects and will be expected to take the lead with new projects. The candidate applying for the position should have proficiency in SolidWorks with a knowledge and understanding of Corel Draw and/or Illustrator. This position will assist in improving the current product line, troubleshoot high-level issues, travel occasionally to install and train top level lasers, along with other various projects. An ideal candidate should be dependable, self-motivated, can work with little to no supervision, and enjoys coming up with solutions. This position is particularly suited for an individual looking to grow. Our control systems include software, control board, LCD display panel, stepper/servo drivers/encoders, stepper/servo motors. A brief description of hardware that we use would include analog and PWM signals, pulse and direction signals, PLC, AC, and DC voltage. This position will have some travel once trained, but travel is not expected to occur on a regular basis. Experience in a design engineering position preferred. Experience: Minimum of two years experience in product design with a solid understanding of the product life cycle. ISO 9001:2015 Experience a plus. Desired skills, knowledge and abilities: Ability to work independently, as well as work well with others in a multi-functional, fast paced environment. Able to adapt to daily activities. Capable of understanding priorities and managing time effectively. Experience with motion controlled system. G-code knowledge a plus. Knowledge of networking a plus. The ability to function in a windows environment utilizing Outlook, Excel, and Word. Knowledge of general office equipment. Reasoning Ability: Able to apply principles of logical thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Able to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables. Able to multi-task. Personal Aptitudes: Ability to communicate in a clear and precise style. The person can compose standard letters with proper format, grammar, punctuation, and spelling, using all parts of speech appropriately. Ability to speak with poise, voice control, and confidence, using correct English with a well-modulated voice. The person is required to have strong analytical skills and the ability to formulate plans. The person has strong attention to detail skills. Physical Demands : While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. Vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle or feel and to manipulate keys on a keyboard. The employee is often required to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on occasion. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts (forklifts and other machinery). The noise level in the work environment is loud on occasion. (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions) Environmental Conditions : The employee may be interrupted frequently to meet the needs and requests of co-workers and customers. The employee may find the environment to be busy, noisy and will need excellent organizational, time, and stress management skills to complete the required tasks. Sensory Demands : Sensory demands include the use of the computer, which may cause eyestrain and occasional headaches. The workspace may be noisy and busy making it difficult for the employee to concentrate. Mental Demands : The employee will have to manage a number of requests and situations at one time. Stress may be caused by the need to complete tasks within deadlines.
