Job Description Job Description Our client is seeking an experienced Commodity Merchandiser to join their team in Lake City, Florida. This position plays a critical role in executing profitable trading strategies, managing freight and logistics operations, and optimizing commodity flows across their network. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience in flat price trading, freight merchandising, and soybean meal futures and basis markets. What You’ll Do Day-to-day trading and merchandising activities to maximize margin and manage risk. Oversee freight and logistics operations—negotiating rates, coordinating movement, and driving cost efficiencies. Trade soybean meal futures and manage basis positions to capitalize on market opportunities. Monitor market trends, crop conditions, and demand shifts to guide purchasing and sales strategies. Build and maintain relationships with producers, end users, and transportation partners. Implement disciplined risk management and hedging strategies to protect against market volatility. Collaborate with internal teams to align merchandising initiatives with company forecasts and growth objectives. Prepare and interpret reports on trading results, freight costs, and market performance. Ensure compliance with company policies, contracts, and all applicable industry regulations. What You’ll Bring Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Economics, Finance, or a related field. 5 years of experience in commodity merchandising, including freight management and flat price trading. Proven knowledge of soybean meal futures and basis trading strategies. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret and act on market data. Excellent negotiation and relationship-building skills across the commodity and logistics sectors. Proficiency in hedging and other risk management tools. Familiarity with commodity trading systems and market analytics platforms. Clear, professional communication skills, both written and verbal. Self-motivated and capable of thriving in a fast-paced, results-driven environment.
