Summary
Position Summary
The Nurse Practitioner (NP)/Physician Asst (PA) also known as
Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides medical care to the
patients within the scope of privileges for which the certified
practitioner is educationally and clinically prepared and granted
by the state of Maine licensing board and according to the policies
and procedures of the hospital and the OH clinics under the general
direction of the Director of Occupational Health. The certified
practitioner will maintain prescriptive authority and comply with
licensure requirements.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
Education: Successful completion of an approved Nurse
Practitioner/Physician Asst program with a Master's Degree level of
education is preferred.
License/Certifications: Current license issued by the State of
Maine as Nurse Practitioner/Physician Asst with SMHC supervising
physician required. Current certification as NP required. BLS
certification is required.
Experience: Three or more years of experience as an APP in an
occupational health setting is required.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Unit specific criteria desired based on specialty. See unit
specific statement of clinical competency.
Responsibilities:
Provides direct care to patients referred to the Occupational
Health clinics according to scope of practice and delegated
activities as outline by the supervising physician and/or in
accordance with regulations.

Additional Information Experience as an APP in Occupational Health
is required. No weekends or holidays required.
