Maintains confidentiality of patient, employee relations, medical staff, departmental and administrative information. Performs departmental projects as assigned, accurately and completely with quality and patient safety in mind at all times. Operates and maintains complex pharmacy automation dispensing/computer equipment used to prepare and dispense pharmaceuticals according to pharmacy processes, ensuring a smooth flow of totes through the fulfillment process. Performs minor equipment troubleshooting as necessary and follows strict cleaning schedule to ensure proper equipment functionality. Follows standard filling procedure guidelines such as scanning the correct drug and labels, notifying automation administrator when account has been locked. Keeps filling errors to a minimum, exceeding industry standard. Proactively updates Automation Supervisor/Manager on staffing, team status, operational bottlenecks, or any other issues and works to fill in the gap where needed. Actively analyzes system to provide accurate and efficient prescription fulfillment in manual processing area, communicating any concerns to Automation Supervisor/Manager in a timely manner. Acts as a liaison between automation and purchasing departments to ensure technician education and training occur around inventory management systems and processes, supporting multiple stores and ensuring oversight of inventory and quality controls remain a focus of the team. Resolves problems and answers questions in a timely manner. Plays an active role in pharmacies' drug inventory receiving processes, ensuring appropriate drug storage and stock rotation. Packs all medications appropriately according to pharmacy packing policy to assure no damage during shipping and the integrity of the medication is maintained. Completes appropriate shipping manifest in a timely manner and communicates any order discrepancies to the appropriate staff member. Communicates with manager regarding work priorities and provides feedback regarding requests, projects and assignments as appropriate. Is aware of daily production goals and works to meet these goals without becoming distracted or being a distraction to other team members, filling in all aspects of automation as needed and remaining flexible with schedule. Plays an active role in quality control activities including checking for short dated products, outdated drug removal and storage, overstock or shortages and other continuous quality improvement efforts. Uses appropriate methods and a flexible interpersonal style to build, motivate, and help guide a cohesive team to complete team goals. Works within mandated registered pharmacy technician scope of practice guidelines. Helps fill in for Automation Supervisor when absent and performs other duties as assigned. QualificationsWhat You Will Need: High School diploma or equivalent. 3 years of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail or mail-order setting. A current Florida Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration, RPT; Must complete state required continuing education requirement for registration-- - 5 years of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail or mail-order setting, preferred Previous wholesale, pharmacy automation or logistics experience preferred. Job Summary: The Pharmacy Automation Specialist performs a wide range of supportive duties to assist the Pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medication so that patients receive consistent care. Duties include, operating pharmacy automation system, filling prescription orders, packing and shipping medications. In addition, this position also assists the Pharmacist in maintaining inventory and patient records. This position provides workflow distribution, day-to-day work oversight, reporting, subject matter expertise, and troubleshooting of the Pharmacy automated fulfillment system as assigned. Works only under the supervision of a registered Pharmacist and does not perform duties that can only be legally performed by a registered Pharmacist.
