Development, Inc. is a full-service civil site contractor serving
Central Florida. We specialize in land clearing, grading,
underground utilities, concrete, and asphalt for both private and
public projects. Our company is built on integrity, quality
workmanship, and safety. We’re currently seeking an experienced and
motivated Pipe Tailman to join our underground utility team.
Position Summary The Pipe Tailman works as part of the underground
utilities crew to assist in the installation of storm drainage,
water, and sewer systems . This position supports the Pipe Layer
and Hillman , ensuring proper jointing, alignment, and backfill of
pipe runs. The Tailman plays a critical role in maintaining
production and quality on the job site. Responsibilities Assist
with the installation of underground utilities (storm, water, and
sanitary sewer). Work in the trench behind the pipe layer to
connect, align, and seal pipe joints. Ensure all pipe joints are
properly cleaned, gasketed, and fitted. Backfill and compact around
newly installed pipe as directed. Maintain trench cleanliness and
assist with grade checking as needed. Handle and stage materials,
fittings, and tools to keep the crew efficient. Work closely with
the Pipe Layer , Hillman , and Foreman to ensure smooth workflow.
Follow all company and OSHA safety standards at all times. Assist
with site cleanup and preparation as needed. Qualifications 1–2
years of underground utility or construction experience preferred
(will train motivated individuals). Understanding of pipe
installation, jointing, and trench safety. Ability to lift 50 lbs
and perform physical labor outdoors in all weather conditions.
Reliable transportation to and from job sites. Ability to work as
part of a team and follow direction from the crew lead or foreman.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with RCP, PVC, and DIP pipe materials. Knowledge
of grade, slope, and laser alignment. OSHA 10 Certification. What
